  • Abstract:

Purpose: To study the effect of telmisartan on arterial stiffness in elderly hypertensive patients. Method: Randomly select 100 elderly patients with hypertension from January 2022 to June 2022 as the research object. 100 patients were randomly divided into control group and experimental group by random number table. The control group was given routine calcium antagonist treatment, and the experimental group was given telmisartan 60mg/d. The blood pressure parameters, pulse conduction velocity (baPWV) and C-reactive protein (CRP) of the control group and the experimental group at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after administration were statistically analyzed. Result: The diastolic blood pressure (DBP), systolic blood pressure (SBP) and pulse pressure difference (PP) of the patients in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the experimental group (P<0.05), and the baPWV decreased by (368.3±262.57)cm/s after 6 months of administration. In addition, the improvement of CRP in the experimental group was better than that in the control group after treatment, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Telmisartan can relieve the stiffness of large arteries in elderly patients with hypertension and increase the concentration of CRP, which can be widely used in clinical practice.
