  • Abstract:

Objective This paper analyzes the influence of high temperature weather on the death of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in middle-aged and elderly people. Method The meteorological data of a city and the death data of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases of middle-aged and elderly people were collected from January 2021 to October 2022. Then, using the generalized additive model and the smoothing curve threshold effect method, we describe the time series of daily mortality of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in hot weather and middle-aged and elderly people, and compare the average daily mortality in hot weather and non hot weather. Finally, the Poisson distribution of the generalized additive model is used to analyze the relationship between the high temperature weather and the death of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in middle-aged and elderly people. Results The death toll of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases of middle-aged and elderly people collected during the study period totaled 5337, with an average daily death toll of 9.7 and a maximum daily death toll of 37.1. There were 95 days of high temperature weather in the corresponding period. There is an obvious peak of death during the hot weather in summer. The average daily death rate of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases of middle-aged and elderly people in hot weather is 1.35 times that in non hot weather, and the risk of impact on middle-aged and elderly women is greater than that on middle-aged and elderly men. Conclusion High temperature weather has a significant impact on the death of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in middle-aged and elderly people.
